Travel Flores Island - Lake kelimutu

 
Another one of the natural wonders of Indonesia. This time the natural attractions that can be spelled so amazing is located in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara. Being at the top of a mountain of the same name, Kelimutu attract many tourists at home and abroad.


On February 26, 1992, Lake Flores entered in the National Park Flores, a national park smallest of the six national parks in the area of Bali and Nusa Tenggara. These attractions are in the peak of Mount Flores with a height of 1,690 meters above sea level. Lake Flores consists of three 'puddle' or crater with a different color.

Besides being known as the Lake Kelimutu, tourist spot is also known as the Three Colors. A natural phenomenon that is amazing because three craters, closely spaced, but has a different water color. The color of the lake water is generally red, white and blue, but it can turn green, black and brown, or other color variations. Interestingly, when the researchers tried to take this as a sample of the lake water, the water was clear without color.


All three lakes are separated by steep rock cliffs are prone to landslides, so tourists are expected to maintain a safe distance while in the area around the lake. The right time to visit this tourist spot is between the months of June to August due to rain tends to not go down so the fields that must be passed safely counted.

History Lake Kelimutu 
Lake Flores existence was first discovered in 1915 by a Dutchman named Van Such Telen. At that time he told local residents that in the peak of Mount Flores there are three lakes with red, white and blue. Residents do not easily believe because of the three colors mentioned Telen the same color as the flag of the Netherlands. Until then residents prove itself where Lake Flores.

Myth Kelimutu
All three lakes of different colors on top of Mount Kelimutu have each other's names. Locals believe that this lake is the dwelling place of the souls of those who died.

Name the three lakes, among others Tiwu Ata Mbupu which became the souls of parents who died, Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai is a place souls of young people who died, and the last is Tiwu Ata Polo is a place souls evil dead. Tiwu itself in the local language means lake.

Of the three lakes, which are most often changed color is Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai. According to local residents, this is possible because the soul that occupies the lake is still young and unstable so that affect the lake water discoloration.
 
 



 The color change can be a sign
Locals believe that the color change that occurs in Lake Flores could be a bad omen of impending disaster in Indonesia. According to them, this has happened several times, including in 1992 and 2004.

In 1992, one of the lake turns into a reddish-brown like chicken liver. Shortly thereafter, there was an earthquake in Flores which take a lot of casualties. The same thing happened in 2004 where Aceh tsunami and caused a lot of casualties.

According to local residents, the lake Flores has the magical powers unusually large. This makes it a very sacred lake. Residents are also often held a special ceremony or ritual to bring offerings as an offering with the aim of asking for salvation and blessing.
